Muck-away haulage, coming Summer 2026.
Compliance-matched hauliers for excavated soil, clay, spoil and contaminated material removal from UK construction and civil engineering sites.
The challenge
What we're solving for muck away
Contaminated material requires licensed waste carriers — but verifying a haulier's Environment Agency registration before each booking rarely happens consistently.
WTNs (Waste Transfer Notes) are legally required under EPA 1990 s.34, but are still often handwritten, incomplete or lost.
Disposal costs vary significantly by material type — shippers lack visibility of appropriate disposal sites and costs before the job starts.
Vehicle types
Typical vehicles for muck away
8-wheel Tipper
Standard for uncontaminated excavated soil and clay. 20–30 tonne payloads. The workhorse of muck-away.
Roll-on Roll-off Skip
Flexible capacity for smaller sites or phased excavations. 10–20 tonne payloads. Suitable for contaminated material with appropriate EA registration.
Compliance
Compliance requirements
BulkMatch will verify all of these at haulier sign-up and re-verify at renewal.
Operator Licence (O-Licence)
Required for all commercial vehicles over 3.5t. Verified against DVSA by BulkMatch at sign-up.
Waste Carrier Registration
Mandatory under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 for any commercial movement of waste. Upper or lower tier as appropriate. BulkMatch will verify against EA Waste Carriers Register.
Hazardous Waste Consignment Notes
Required where material is classified as hazardous (contaminated soil, asbestos-containing material). BulkMatch will generate digital consignment notes at launch.
