What we're solving for plant & machinery
Abnormal load movements require route surveys, police notifications and sometimes escort — coordinating this informally is time-consuming and error-prone.
Finding a low-loader operator with the right trailer spec (step-frame, double-drop, extendable) for an unusual piece of kit often means hours of calls.
FORS and CLOCS accreditation is required on major construction sites — verifying this before a plant move is rarely done consistently.
Vehicle types
Typical vehicles for plant & machinery
Low-loader
Standard step-frame low-loader for excavators, rollers, and heavy plant. Up to 50 tonne payload. Requires specialist driver qualification for abnormal loads.
Flatbed
For lighter plant, generators, compressors and forklifts. Up to 30 tonnes. More flexible routing than low-loader.
Step-frame / Double-drop
For taller plant where height clearance is restricted. Detachable gooseneck versions available for the tallest equipment.
Compliance
Compliance requirements
BulkMatch will verify all of these at haulier sign-up and re-verify at renewal.
Operator Licence (O-Licence)
Mandatory for commercial haulage over 3.5t. BulkMatch verifies against DVSA at sign-up.
FORS (Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme)
Often required on major infrastructure and construction projects. Bronze as a minimum — Silver for some programmes. BulkMatch will badge FORS-accredited operators.
CLOCS (Construction Logistics and Community Safety)
Increasingly required on London and urban construction sites. Covers interactions with vulnerable road users. BulkMatch will verify CLOCS membership.
